Our free YAGI UHF TV ANTENNA PLANS describe how to build a simple high gain YAGI antenna for reception of a single broadcast television channel ranging between 14 and 70 (470 - 812 MHz). This antenna project provides good performance because you build it exactly for the single TV channel or frequency you want to receive. The antenna plans call for using a ruled wooden mast, brass and aluminum antenna elements and a coaxial cable. As you can imagine, assembly of this antenna project requires measuring, drilling, wire cutting and wire bending. Note that PVC pipe can be substituted for the wooden mast (As shown in the photo above) to build an outdoor version. The most popular use of this antenna is for radio astronomy projects by building it for channel 37, as described on our Radio Telescope Page. BRASS & ALUMINUM RODS (CAT# RODS): The only difficult item to find for building the YAGI Antenna according to the plans are the brass and aluminum antenna elements. Customers have inquired where they can purchase the 1/8 inch diameter brass and aluminum material. Therefore we have put together this kit consisting of 1 brass and 4 aluminum rods, each 24 inches long. The brass element is used for the folded dipole portion of the antenna, as it allows soldering of the coaxial cable leads for a good connection. The aluminum is used for the reflector and director elements. This offer contains enough material to allow for contruction of an antenna at any frequency of interest, according to the plans. Note that you will still need to acquire the other items described in the plans for building an antenna.
